What We Do:
Huntley Hills PTA is a parent-led volunteer group that supports the school administration, teachers, students and parents with our time, talents and perspective as parents. We work year-round planning and implementing programs and events to keep the Huntley Hills Community engaged and excited. But we CAN NOT do it without the help of parent volunteers, students and the entire community.
When We Meet:
Huntley Hills PTA Board meets at least once a month to discuss the school's needs and events coming up. Below is the meeting minutes/presentations from the recent Board meetings.
PTA Budget:
Huntley Hills PTA members vote annually to approve the spending of PTA funds. Below is this years proposed budget. Please review and be prepared to vote on this budget for the 2021-2022 Fiscal Year at our Title I annual meeting on Thursday, August 26th.
Here's a few FAQs about our PTA:
What does the PTA do for the school?
The PTA works with parents and staff to build a stronger school community by providing funds to enrich classroom and school resources. We've applied and received grant money to purchase classroom libraries and instruments for our music program and enrich the school garden. We also rely on donations from parents both goods and money to help support our initiatives. And our PTA volunteers help bring it all together! We're provided colorful hallway learning decals, display shelves in the front of the school, shade structures in the playground, raised garden beds, and much more.
We also organize events both during and after school hours that serve to enrich our children's educational experiences and build a stronger community. Some of the programs PTA organizes or supports include: Spirit Nights, Fall Festival, Valentine’s Day Dance, Fueled by Fitness, and more. To support our teachers and staff we also fund staff development.
Why should I join the PTA?
Our kids need advocates, not just at home but in the classroom and in the community. By being a voting member of the PTA, you'll help shape our budget and priorities. And to be a PTA, we pay national dues that cover insurance, provide by-laws and guiding principles. Your PTA membership goes toward those national dues and helps cover some of the great services and events we provide the school.
Why should I serve on the PTA board?
1. You stay updated and informed on what is going on at our school.
2. You can more effectively advocate for change at our school.
3. Everyone has different strengths and talents. Everyone has something unique to offer our school and our children.
4. Your child feels a sense of pride to know that his/her parent holds an office.
5. You get to meet and work with wonderful people!
Can I be a board member and work full time?
Yes! Many of our members hold a full or part time job.
When does the PTA board meet?
We meet the first Monday of each month from 5-6 p.m. in the school’s media center. The meetings are also accessible via Zoom.
Do I have to be a mom to serve on the board?
No! We love to have dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles and anyone who cares about Huntley Hills Elementary and the students who attend here.
Are the board positions a large time commitment?
Not necessarily. Some duties can be performed from home and some require your presence at the school. Some positions are seasonal and some require some effort for most of the year. Some positions work well if you decide to do them with a friend. Explore which position would be right for you. The time you donate to actively participate in your child's school is time well spent. It shows our children that we care about what they do every day.
How do I get reimbursed for a PTA approved expense?
Please complete this form and provide receipts for your purchases. Completed forms should be turned in to the PTA box in the main office.
